Description
This auction is for a very nice hollow premier mallard duck decoy by the famous Mason decoy factory out of Detroit Michigan circa 1910s. The Mason Decoy Factory was the best of the best when it came to producing quality wooden decoys over a century ago and their decoys remain very collectible. This decoy at first glance looks to be a drake mallard decoy in old overpaint but there is a very good original paint hollow premier hen mallard under that weak overpaint. If you look closely at the photos you can see where I used Acetone and a rag and was able to take off the gray overpaint and expose very good original hen mallard paint underneath. I am not an expert in this type of restoration so I will leave it to more capable hands to finish the removal of the overpaint but it is very possible that there is a very good original paint premier hen mallard underneath. She is in very good structural condition as well with none of the big tail chips that were common with these big hollow Mason decoys. She has her original glass eyes, a small metal anchor loop and she even has her original oval Mason premier lead ballast weight. Don't miss out on your chance to own what could be a very good original Mason premier hen mallard decoy. She is approximately 17 1/2 inches long. The shipping cost stated is for the lower 48 states. Please check out my other auctions as I will be listing lots of old decoys and sporting collectibles in the coming weeks and months. I would be happy to combine shipping costs for US winners of multiple auctions. Good Luck!
